La Musique Sismique – What are the ideal conditions to produce a track?
Starcadian – Oof that’s a tough one, I think I haven’t met them yet! I have an obsession with quiet, so ideally an isolated place where I can play really loud and sing really stupid gibberish until I get the feel of the song. Unfortunately, living in NYC doesn’t really accommodate that, so I tend to compose everything in my head when on the subway, or right before I go to sleep and pray it’s still there when I wake up!
LMS – Alone on a desert island, you have one track on you iPhone, which one?
Starcadian – I would have to say Africa, that track is pure perfection, those guys wrote the most unbelievable songs.
LMS – What is the latest track that you’ve listened that slapped your face?
Starcadian – This is going to sound really stupid, but I was recently introduced to ‘King Of Wishful Thinking‘ by Go West which I’d never heard before and it’s such a pristine 90s pop track that I can’t stop listening to! Sorry this isn’t Gesaffelstein or anything more recent/edgy. Actually here’s something newer, a rapper from around here called The Buttress, which is just balls to the walls insane, it’s like Ol’ Dirty Bastard meets Dario Argento!
LMS – What is your musical guilty pleasure?
Starcadian – Hmmm, I’m not really sure I classify things as a guilty pleasure anymore. I’ll listen to Michael McDonald and Dimmu Borgir one after the other, there’s so many beautiful things in songs that people spent effort writing so I’ll appreciate it all!
LMS – Do you have any other release scheduled / planned?
Starcadian – Too many things! We’re in the process of developing a ‘Sunset Blood’ movie, we just finished the script and it’s fantastic! I’m about halfway I’d say through the third album and it’s killing me that it’s not done yet because the finished songs are something I’m incredibly proud of! Also planning a few videos off this next one which should be super cool 🙂 I might or might not drop a cool little something for Christmas 🙂
